In their words
The difference a patient teacher makes.
I really enjoy learning with Ms Jo because she is very kind, respectful and supportive. I have been learning from her since K2, and has helped me prepare for my PSLE, I can really see how much I have improved over the years because of her guidance and encouragement.
She teaches me English and Mathematics, and she always makes sure that I understand what I am learning instead of simply memorising the answers. For example, when I have difficulties with questions such as fraction word problems, she guides me step by step and asks me questions to help me figure out the answer myself. This has helped me become more confident and independent in my learning.
She also uses different teaching methods depending on what I need help with. If I do not understand something at first, she is patient and explains it in another way until I understand. I really appreciate that she does not just give me the answer. Instead, she gives me hints and asks questions that help me think and solve the problem on my own.
Besides English and Mathematics, she also teaches me chess. Learning chess has helped me develop my thinking and problem-solving skills, and it is also something I really enjoy.
One thing I especially appreciate is that she understands that students sometimes need a short break or some time to relax. She allows us to have study breaks while still making sure that our parents are informed. This makes the learning environment feel comfortable and balanced.
She also respects my decisions and listens to what I have to say. I feel comfortable sharing my thoughts with her because she treats me with kindness and respect. Her lessons are not just about studying; they are also about learning how to think, solve problems and become more confident.
Looking back from K2 until now, I am really thankful for how much she has helped me grow. I have improved so much over the years, not only in my schoolwork but also in my confidence and the way I approach difficult questions. I am very grateful to have had her guidance throughout my primary school years, especially as I prepare for my PSLE. I hope to continue learning from her and carrying the skills and lessons she has taught me into the future.
It gives me immense pleasure to send you a Thank you message today Teacher Jo. You have been seeing our child’s unique strengths and been helping him shine. Thank you for creating a safe and welcoming space where Yash feels truly valued and understood. I am so grateful for the extra time and heart you pour into your teaching. Handling a special needs child drains off energy but you have never shown it and always strive to improve his abilities. Having seen a tremendous improvement in my child within a short span amazes me. Thanks again and stay blessed.
